Green hints and tips for your business

Since recently receiving our ISO 14001 environmental accreditation, we wanted to share with you some hints and tips to help reduce your carbon footprint.

1. Recycling bins

Ensure that recycling bins are available throughout the office - paper, cardboard and cans and that the onward disposal is also green.

2. LED lights

Replace all your spotlights with LED lighting.

3. Internal awareness program

Implement an internal awareness program across the business to ensure you get their buy-in.

4. Paper usage

Recycle all paper purchased and reduce paper usage within an agreed timeframe.

5. Waste water reduction

Install dual flushes to toilets to reduce waste water.

6. Plastic cups

Remove all plastic cusps from drinks machines and water dispensers and replace with mugs.

7. Additional buy-in

Add a note to your email signature to encourage people not to print out the email unless it is necessary. Hold an internal green day to raise internal awareness.

8. PAT testing

Complete all PAT testing across the business and ensure that this is repeated yearly and all new hardware is tested as it is bought in.

9. Hand Towels

Remove all hand towels from toilets and use hand dryers instead.

10. Monitor electricity usage

Aim to keep your electricity usage down by turning off computers and monitors at the end of the day. Keep air conditioning to a minimum. Turn off any unused lighting and install automatic light sensors where possible.
